Wedding Tip: Here's a helpful guide to make the process for changing your maiden name to your married name easier. This information is helpful for most states but was intended for Arizona.

First and foremost: Don't forget to bring your marriage license to the ceremony. If the officiant, bride and groom do not sign the marriage license the day of the ceremony, the marriage is not legal on that day. (This happens more often, than you would think! =)

Applying for your NEW Social Security card and drivers license: You must change your Social Security card before requesting your new drivers license. It is not required to bring your old SSI card with you in order to get your new one. However, you must at some point destroy your old card. Documentation required to obtain your new card is:

• Your marriage license

• Drivers license or other state issued ID.

Keep in mind you are required to wait 24 hours after receiving your Social Security card receipt to apply for your NEW drivers license. For more information or to find an office near you, go to www.socialsecurity.gov or www.servicearizona.com
